Latest Updates from Our Project:

EDIT: Slight Delay on Core Book Digital
5 months ago – Tue, Nov 11, 2025 at 08:08:16 AM

Hey folks!

I just sent an update that the digital core book was available on backerkit, which has proven to not be true. The core book is finished, uploaded, and ready! But: we had some human error with our surveys, and since the backerkit staff is on holiday, it won't be resolved today. I can all but guarantee it'll all be sorted by Thursday, if not sooner, but I apologize for the inconvenience!

If you, in the last hour, made plans for your first session to happen tonight, and it's contingent on getting the digital files ASAP, please reach out to me personally and we'll make it happen.

Sorry about that, and thanks for your patience!

Digital Core Book, Pax Unplugged, General Update
5 months ago – Tue, Nov 11, 2025 at 07:18:02 AM

A quick one here, folks!

EDIT: I'm very sorry, we won't be able to distribute the core book files today as the backerkit staff is on holiday and we need final approval on something. HOWEVER, everything is set up and will be ready to go as soon as they can approve it.

Our digital core book files will be released very soon on backerkit -- we've encountered some hitches with the backer surveys, but hopefully by the time you read this it will be sorted! This is version 1.5 -- not only the most updated version but also the most serious set of adjustments we've yet made to the book. If necessary, we may do some slight adjustments before it goes to print, but we're pretty happy with what's in here. The changes include numerous typo fixes, clarifications of rules that have tripped people up, and a few rules changes to make the game run better.

The backerkit pre-order store is also now open. We've heard from a few folks who have been hoping to pledge late, and this is the best method!

Graham Ward and I are waist-deep in layout, continuing design, and art commissioning work now. We're very excited to show you some things in the near future but for now, just know that the pot is on the stove and cooking.

For any backers who are attending Pax Unplugged in Philadelphia next week -- I'll be there and I'd love to say hi! I'll likely spend a little time at the Mythworks booth and run a couple games at the Alexandrian game library, though nothing is confirmed yet. Feel free to reach out.

Reach out to me with any questions or concerns! Talk soon!

Our Kickstarter Is Complete! What's Next?
6 months ago – Thu, Oct 16, 2025 at 10:08:28 AM

Hello, everyone!

The kickstarter is now finished! Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping us make this project a reality! We are so delighted to have the chance to delve deeper into the word of The Last Caravan and make some cool new stuff.

What happens now? Well, a lot of progress has already been made. Both of our products are largely drafted, with fully playable designs already in place for the new character imprints and many regions and scenarios already written. That means a few things:

1. We're already moving into layout. This means that we are on track for our promised timeline at this point.
2. You could already playtest some of this stuff! If you are interested, please join us in the Mythworks discord channel! We can provide materials for your playtests there!
3. We get to work on refinement and leveling up.

My biggest goal from the beginning of this was that I wanted to level up the process that we used to make the original book. The Last Caravan was my first step into game design, and I'm delighted and pleased by where it's ended up. It's been inspiring to see the game find an audience, and it's important to me to meet the high bar that this new generation of TTRPGs is setting. We don't just want a good vibe, some good art, and passable game design. We want to make something that will sing at the table, something that you can dive into, a game that rewards you the more that you invest in it.

All of you have participated in that inspiration. Your faith in this project has allowed it to become things I never expected, to grow and expand and deepen.

What Does the Rest of the Process Look Like?

There are essentially three steps:

- Design & Layout. This is where we shape the game, get the art, and make those into the files that will be printed in the books and other products!
- Printing & Freight. This step gets us involved with a factory that will print the products, and then with a boat that ships them across the ocean.
- Shipping. Finally, once warehoused, the products will make their way to you. This will all have to be confirmed through the backerkit, where we we will get addresses, charge shipping, etc.

What Else Is On the Horizon?

A few things! First of all, we're working on a latest version of the core book, and we'll be setting up the backerkit and prepping to deliver the digital version within a few days! Keep an eye out!

We are also still very much planning on a Last Caravan game jam (or, as Carson Wright suggested, the First Cara-jam) and will be working on the SRD. I think this will be an absolute blast and I'm stoked to see what you come up with.

Updates on printing and product development will be coming your way too. The final box design is still pending and we will keep you apprised of developments there.

As always, please reach out to me with any questions, thoughts, concerns, or hopes. I may collapse this weekend and sleep for thirty hours straight, but if I'm honest, I'll probably be doing design work later today. :)

 Be in touch soon,
Ted

Another Stretch Goal Bites the Dust! Final Stretch!
6 months ago – Wed, Oct 15, 2025 at 11:18:37 AM

Hey all!

Quick one here! We have officially crossed 30k, which means the Wanderlust Art stretch goal is funded! I am already excited to put on my art director hat and dive in on this. We've got some OG Last Caravan artists already working on it and potentially some new faces will be joining! We will start sharing that art in the coming weeks and months!

Another stretch goal awaits us at 34k -- the Otherworld Art pack! It would be lovely to get the funding to really dive in deeply there!

But either way, thank you so much for helping us this far! Talk soon!

Final 48 Hours!
6 months ago – Tue, Oct 14, 2025 at 09:05:07 AM

Travelers,

Our campaign is nearly wrapped up! Thank you so much to everyone who's pushed us forward over the last weeks. We are nearly at 30k and pushing towards 400% funded! Madness! Wondrous!

Most importantly, that success is going to help us make the game better. From new imprints and scenarios to our alien solo journalling game and beyond, the games we're funding here are deepening and growing. I'm so excited to show you more of what we're making soon.

But we can go further! At 30k our next stretch goal, we will unlock the Wanderlust Art Pack -- a slew of lovely artworks to fill out our work from some fabulous returning Last Caravan artists.

We are adding another goal as well: the Otherworld Art Pack! At 34k, we'll be able to fund not only our Wanderlust Art pieces but also several vivid and exciting alien-focused pieces.

If you're excited about The Last Caravan, here are some ways you can get involved:

Playtest: The best place to go for being involved in playtests would be to join the Mythworks server and hop onto the Last Caravan channel. We're already having great discussions in there, with folks sharing their game prep, hacking the Travel Phase for maximum fun, and planning games. We would love to have you!

Join our Game Jam! We will be releasing an SRD soon and are excited to start running the game jam when that is ready. I want to hear your wild ideas for Last Caravan regions -- or, heck, completely new games using the game's core system!

Share: The last 48 hours of a kickstarter can be almost as crucial as the first 48 hours! We'd love for this to reach more folks. Feel free to share it with anybody who you think would like the game!

You'll be hearing from us soon!
