Latest Updates from Our Project:

April 18th Update - Lost Highway Part One Beta!
3 days ago – Sat, Apr 18, 2026 at 07:00:59 AM

Hello, travelers! Yesterday was my birthday, and so I wanted to send something your way as a little gift -- for folks who backed Lost Highway at any level, we are releasing a digital beta of Part One of the book! This includes our new caravan creation tools and our four new player archetypes: The Singer, the Survivor, the Verdant, and our new archetype, the Veil.

The Veil, an alien saboteur and master of disguise, can change into a human appearance, and uses mimicry and stealth to achieve their goals. This art piece (by James Firnhaber, of course) also features a new subspecies of Aernians that you'll learn more about in Part One.

Part One also includes our expanded caravan and character creation tools. All of these elements are table ready! Put them in your game!

HOW DO I FIND THE BETA?

If you backed Lost Highway at any level, you should already have access to the PDF in your digital downloads on backerkit. You'll also find a pdf of the character sheets for the alien imprints there soon!

WHAT'S NEXT?

This is only a fragment of the work we've done so far, and more will be coming your way. Since there's a lot of versions of what comes next, I won't roadmap anything, but just know we're working on this every day and pushing it forward! We look forward to updating you all very soon.

March Update - New Cover, Lost Highway Scenarios, and More
about 2 months ago – Wed, Mar 04, 2026 at 03:35:33 PM

Travelers!

Hello and welcome to our latest update for The Last Caravan: Westward Bound. Today we have a few big and exciting reveals for you.

HOMEWORLD SONG COVER
One of our stretch goals unlocked Homeworld Song, a mixed-purpose chapter in Lost Highway that will serve as both a deep dive on alien lore as well as a solo journaling game designed, playable standalone as well as good for creating alien player characters and NPCs for Last Caravan campaigns. Check it out!

Like the cover art for Lost Highway, this work is by Jeff Langevin.

We have already had several playtests of Homeworld Song and will eventually get a version out to backers. If you're interested in being part of playtests or running your own, join us on the Mythworks discord!

LOST HIGHWAY SCENARIOS

We are now deep into design work for Lost Highway, and wanted today to share some materials with you. This google drive link contains 3 scenarios, with one of them serving as a tutorial to explain how scenarios will work generally. We've already gotten some feedback from players on this and would love to hear more. The scenarios here are:

HAND-DELIVERED (you may recognize this if you've played LC with me at a convetnion)

WARSINGER ON MAIN STREET

CAMPER CARAVANSERAI

Again, the Mythworks discord is a great place to come discuss!

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

Generally, we are still on schedule. I had envisioned a world where we sent books off to the printer this month, but that's almost certainly not going to happen. However, that would have been an early fulfillment situation. While there are a number of factors up in the air, there's nothing going on that we didn't generally prepare for. Apologies for the vagueness, but the general truth is this: we are working hard to get this game to you and excited to share more soon.

Thank you all for your patience and support!

Winter Workflow
3 months ago – Sun, Jan 18, 2026 at 11:25:23 AM

This morning, walking through the park as gentle snow fell outside, I put on my Last Caravan playlist (not the album, though I do listen to that on occasion, and judging from my spotify notifications so do you!).

This has been very common the last few weeks, as winter has fully arrived where we are. I find myself walking around imagining tables of Last Caravan, envisioning scenarios that Graham and I are working on design for, thinking about gambits and heroism and clocks.

We don't have any particular updates today! Everything is in motion, but it's all behind the scenes. Lost Highway and Westward Bound are both partially laid-out and almost finished in terms of design, but certainly have a lot of work to go.

We're working with amazing artists on all sides: here's a little look at two of the latest pieces: one for Westward Bound from James Firnhaber, and one for Lost Highway from Spencer Hawkes!

The Gizmo: a clever mischief-maker and button-presser (art by James Firnhaber)
Camp (Art by Spencer Hawkes)

Please reach out with any questions. Our hope is to deliver digital versions of the books with some time in advance so that we can fix any errors before physical printing, but tbh, that's a ways off still.

Talk soon!

Quick Check-In
4 months ago – Sat, Dec 13, 2025 at 10:52:11 AM

Folks, not a lot to say here, but I wanted to drop a line. We have been hard at work ever since the kickstarter funded and that work continues! As much as I'd love to, I'm going to refrain from sending sketches of new art, layout from our designed scenarios, and any other advance materials.

If you missed it, digital downloads of the core book pdf are available on backerkit. And if you're running a new game, there are great discussions happening in the Last Caravan channel on the Mythworks discord!

Also, the majority of you have already responded to the backerkit surveys! Thank you! If you haven't received an e-mail, feel free to let me know.

As we dive into layout and additional design, it's extremely invigorating for us to think about you at your tables and how we can build the best possible game and materials for you. Seeing and hearing about games you've run is a reminder of the amazing collaborative nature of the medium. Our hope is to plant an orchard of ideas, mechanics, and actionable lore so that you can pluck the fruit off the trees and have every bite be sweet and flavorful!

But enough of that metaphor! Enjoy your descending winter if you're in the northern hemisphere! Reach out to me with any questions or concerns, and thank you!

Backerkit Surveys Live, Error Fix, Pax Unplugged

Hello all!

Backerkit surveys are now live and many of you have already responded! Go check it out!

There was a particular issue with the "Lost Highway & Westward Bound Digital" add-on. That issue has been fixed. Please reach out if you continue to have any issues!

Also, I will be at Pax Unplugged this weekend! You'll likely spot me at the Mythworks booth and I may run a game at the Alexandrian Library. Reach out if you're at the con and would like to say hi!
